Local Review: Wedding Rehearsal Dinner at P.F. Changs

Since I’m on the topic of Weddings I might as well continue my series all about my sister Sarah and her new husband Travis. Their Wedding Rehearsal was one week ago today at P.F. Changs. Now, I’m going to stand up for P.F. Changs here because they are one of the few major chain restaurants that has a Vegetarian section on their menu. When you have a vegetarian-freindly dish you’re more than halfway to a vegan-friendly dish. Sarah worked in the kitchen at the La Cantera location and was very kind to make sure she ordered vegan options for our family to try at her Rehearsal Dinner.

Our menu described our appetizer as wok-seared tofu, mushrooms, green onions, and water chestnuts served over crispy rice sticks and served with cool, crisp lettuce cups. I love this appetizer.

For dinner we had two options: Chinese eggplant tossed in a spicy vegetarian sauce with chili paste and scallions or an off-menu Vegetable Noodle dish. My mom loves their Eggplant. I really loved both these dishes, especially when combined.

Travis’ family sat at a long table beside ours. We realized they had deemed us the Vegan table and were quick to pass over the vegetarian dishes without even giving them a try. It’s just too bad for anyone to exclude vegetables from their diet because their not a vegetarian. Vegan dishes are not exclusively for vegans, but for anyone looking for a healthy, sustainable and delicious alternative.

My sister ordered us fruit bowls for dessert. The fruit normally comes with cheesecake, or other non-vegan desserts, which made me realize that I can have a bowl of fruit for dessert at almost any restaurant. Fresh and delicious.

Thanks to Sarah and Travis for being so thoughtful for their Rehearsal Dinner! It was fun and tasty! The family is getting together for Dylan’s 3rd Birthday tomorrow (there’s a Vegan Birthday Cake in the fridge that Mark and I almost ate last night!) so I look forward to sharing that as well as Sarah and Travis’ amazing Wedding. Happy Friday!
