Last night the hubby and I went to see Breathless, the 1960 French film directed by Jean-Luc Godard. It was wonderful to see the film for the first time on the big screen. We’ve been attending Cinema Tuesday screenings for the last few years and have always enjoyed it. What’s not to love?
I was less than impressed with the Restaurant menu at the Bijou at the last Cinema Tuesday, where they screened Casablanca (I cried twice). Unless you want to spend $7 – $10 on a salad you’ll need to modify the hell out of to make vegan, I suggest you sneak in your own meal! I’m not normally a pessimist about meal options around town. I’m sure there is something great to eat there, but I didn’t want to drop $30 on a sandwich or salad dinner for two inside a cold, dark movie theatre.
My little Vegan Goodbyn
I’m so excited to finally share my vegan Goodbyn. I had already taken it to Red Dot, one of the biggest art sales in the City benefiting Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, but didn’t get a chance to take a photo. Well, I took a photo this time! (actually, the hubby did) In my little Goodbyn I packed a Mock-Chicken Salad Sandwich, two Smart Dogs in a Blanket, a Chocolate-Dipped Banana with Walnuts and a packet of Anne’s Fruit Snacks.
This is making me hungry…
I have to admit I didn’t have the courage to bust out my Goodbyn during the movie, but we did sit outside the Theater after the screening and enjoyed my meal together next to the somewhat picturesque water fountain. The hubby and I had made the Smart Dogs in a Blanket and Chocolate Dipped Banana Walnut dessert the night before. It was lots of fun to play with simple, tasty recipes on our own. I plan on sharing my recipes in an upcoming post. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

That meal is adorable!

Thanks! I felt like I was back in elementary packing a lunch, but it’s so comforting to have something vegan and delicious stashed in my purse.
