Last week my bestest buddy Jerry took me out to a late Birthday Lunch. We first stopped at a Jamba Juice since it was Jerry’s first day on a Juice Diet. After throwin’ back a double shot of wheat grass, we headed to The Little Aussie Bakery & Cafe. I’d tried their bakery (chocolate cake anyone?), but we hadn’t had a chance to stop in for lunch. We got a little table by the window and nursed our Jamba Juices while peering over the menu. I had called ahead and spoken to a very helpful employee regarding vegan-friendly options. There were several including a variety of Breads, Salads, Sandwiches, Pizzas and Desserts. I love sandwiches made with fresh bread, so I went with The Great Big Aussie Sanger minus the yogurt. Mark tried a “Create Your Own” Pizza minus the cheese. We were both impressed with our meals. While eating my sandwich it became obvious to me that peanut butter and veggies don’t spend enough time together in my diet.

Jerry drank his juice and watched us as we enjoyed the complimentary bread and respective meals. How many times do I need to tell that boy that he wouldn’t need to follow diets if he just adopted veganism back into his life? Someday he’ll listen. Until then, I’m happy to eat his share of fresh bread rolls.

UPDATE: Little Aussie Has Closed

Vegan News

· I’m sad to say that Quicksands Bakery and Cafe has closed for business. I’ll definitely miss them!

· Cara over at Sewindie.com is offering 25% off her shop in celebration of her Birthday, use the code THEBIG25. I recommend Chickpea Magazine and her handmade Recipe Cards!

· H.E.B opens a new store near 1604 & Bandera, offering new vegan-friendly items in their Healthy Living and International Market aisles.

Thanks again to Jerry for my birthday lunch, I hope you’ll visit Little Aussie soon!

So. Much. Food envy. I can’t even remember when I last ate pizza. You’re making me crave carbs like BURNING. Juice diet schmoosh diet… yeah that totally made sense.
