At the beginning of last month we took a road trip to Houston with our besties Remy and Marisa. They had participated in a film we produced entitled Shooting Techniques which screened at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. We always try to make fun trips out of the festivals and screenings our films are in, but taking Remy and Marisa along made it one of the best trips ever.

We left for Houston on the 4th of July, after a visit to the beautiful Williams Waterwall we drove around the city checking out Independence Day Celebrations before heading out to Stafford, Texas for the Fort Bend Symphony and Fireworks show. It was the best and longest fireworks display ever. The following day we had a delicious lunch at Radical Eats, a vegan and gluten-free restaurant I plan on visiting every time we’re in Houston*.

The next day we took advantage of Free Thursday admissions to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Museum of Fine Arts Houston and capped our evening with our Mess with Texas program screening at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. The screening was a huge success – read more on Walley Films Blog. Friday was even more packed with adventure. After a tasty lunch at Loving Hut we visited Rice Gallery for Yasuaki Onishi’s installation, The Menil Collection including the Cy Twombly Gallery, the Rothko Chapel, and The Art Guys Statue of Four Lies. We loved Radical Eats so much we had dinner there before heading back home to San Antonio.
